The Portland Gay Symphonic Band (PGSB) has been delighting audiences since 1990, growing over the years and now performing a variety of musical styles ranging from classical pieces to contemporary and popular music. PGSB produces at least two concerts per year and has performed throughout the Portland area as well as Salem and Seattle. PGSB has collaborated in concerts with the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus, the Portland Lesbian Choir, and the Seattle Rainbow City Band and also participate in the Oregon Adult Band Festivals. The band is active on a national level as a member of the Lesbian and Gay Bands Association (LGBA) and the Association of Concert Bands.
The Portland Gay Symphonic Band welcomes anyone who plays an instrument to consider joining. While many members are accomplished musicians, many new members had not played since high school or college. Rehearsals for Concert Band are on Wednesday nights, held at Cleveland High School, 8300 3400 SE 26th Ave, Portland, OR 97202.
